"Victor Davis Hanson: Christopher Wray Knew What He Was Doing When He Downplayed Antifa - "

Victor Davis Hanson argued that former FBI Director Christopher Wray intentionally minimized Antifa to conform to the perceived left-wing politics of the White House and institutional elites.

According to Hanson, individuals who ascend to top tiers of law enforcement and the federal bureaucracy often operate in networks heavily influenced by left-leaning political figures, academic consultants, and media outlets.

He claimed that Wray was acting on explicit or implicit instructions from the administration to go soft on Antifa, which aligned with political messaging that focused almost exclusively on defining white supremacists as the primary domestic terror threat.

Additionally, Hanson argued that law enforcement was hesitant to target Antifa because its core demographics frequently consist of upper-middle-class, college-educated white youth whose families have institutional or elite connections.

Finally, he asserted that leadership across federal agencies viewed Donald Trump as an outsider and weaponized their authorities or altered their messaging to protect the existing political establishment and undermine Trump's political standing. Hanson concluded that labeling Antifa an ideology rather than an organized movement provided a protective cover for political violence while the Department of Justice focused attention elsewhere.
